We are brothers who come from a long line of fishermen.

Ocomar is inspired by the place our family comes from, Ocotlán. In Ocotlán the main sources of income are from fishing and furniture manufacturing.

Our grandfather was the pioneer fishermen in our family. He is pictured here with his boat and fishing gear. He worked hard to provide for his own.

Our father and his brothers followed in our grandfather's footsteps, while other people in town, including some of our aunts and uncles, would work at the local fish landing stations cutting/filleting the day's catch. The key was to be a skilled, speedy cutter since they would pay them based on the amounts of kilos produced instead of the hours worked. 

We all started working at a very young age in the seafood industry here in California. At one point we each worked full-time for various, reputable companies. Each of us grew and learned the ropes of the industry until we decided to create Ocomar, an homage to our roots in Ocotlán, and mar, meaning sea.

We are proud to come from a humble and hardworking family and prove that it's possible to succeed without forgetting our roots.
